On May 6, the annual Met Gala occurred, showcasing today’s biggest stars in elaborate gear. The theme of the gala was “Camp.” No, it is the hiking, outdoorsy theme you think.
Camp is defined on Wikipedia as “an aesthetic style and sensibility that regards something as appealing because of its bad taste and ironic value.” Personally, I believe this definition encases all high-end fashion, as very often the designs are outrageous, impractical pieces that no one would wear on the regular.
After viewing many of the gala pieces, camp seems to be fashion wear that is extremely extra. Lady Gaga, for example, epitomized the night by wearing not one, but four outfits, progressively taking off layers over the course of 16 minutes. Posted below are other highlights from the night.
