The Salone Satellite is an annual showcase of furniture designers under 35 that takes place in Milan. The event is meant to showcase young talent and bring their works into the eyes of businesses.
To me, the furniture featured in the showcase leans more towards the realm of sculpture than something meant to be utilized. It blurs the line dividing quotidian objects with art objects. We come into physical contact with furniture like chairs everyday, bearing no particular thoughts in mind about the act of doing so. What happens when the chair is also a sculpture?
