The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is showing the entirety of Rauschenberg’s 1981-1998 work, The 1/4 Mile or 2 Furlong Piece. The work consists of 190 panels that stretch a total of one fourth mile, which was the same length as Rauschenberg’s commute to work. The entire work is made up of a variety of materials, included recycled materials, textiles, metals, and more. The work also includes audio recordings of his travels.
