Since Jacob mentioned we’ll touch on typography next week, I thought I’ll read up a little. This article discusses the technicalities of typography in a non-intimidating way. What stood out for me was what typography means to us:
Visually appealing fonts attract the reader’s attention and facilitates communication and audience engagement by conveying a certain mood or feeling. In line with a graphic design principle that we are familiar with, the right typeface is supposed to help create harmony, continuity and simplicity in the work.
For companies that are interested in an on-going relationship with its users and the world, typeface can help to establish and build brand recognition – think Uber and its most recent design rebrand.
