Shamrocks on St. Pattys

This Sunday is Saint Patrick’s Day, and of course, college kids go all-out for this weirdly festive holiday. Everyone is wearing green, and they all own something in the shape of a shamrock. I wondered how the three leaf clover design came to represent an entire holiday, so I did some googling and found out that legend has it that Saint Patrick used three leaf clovers to explain the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) to Irish Christians during the 5th Century.
