I’ve always been interested in sustainability and product design, so when I found out this weekend about Loop, a new zero-waste packaging platform for big-name consumer products like Crest toothpaste, Tide detergent, and Haagen Dazs ice cream, I was intrigued. Loop delivers products straight to your door, and once you’re done with them, picks them up and cleans the containers for the use of the next customer.
Because Loop is a radical shift in the way we can buy and interact with zero-waste products, they have completely redesigned everyday consumer products like ice cream containers, toothpaste, and mouthwash for greater longevity and easier repackaging. For example, they found that toothpaste was too hard to repackage, so instead, they designed chewable toothpaste tablets. Ice cream containers were also redesigned to be fashionable metal containers, which can last longer and keep the ice cream cooler.
I’m excited to see where Loop goes because of its convenience, zero-waste principles, and application of product design! Check out Loop here!
